Irene will always be remembered for the wonderful welcome that she gave to my father, Fernand Boulanger, her first cousin who had emigrated from Mortehan to Seattle, Washington, as a five year old with his family in 1912. Fernand returned to Mortehan in 1920 at age 14 for a stay of about 18 months until 1922 when he, again, returned with family to Seattle.
It was not until 1979, 67 years later, that Fernand once again made contact and returned to visit his Belgium family. Irene was the generous host who housed and fed him and reintroduced him to all his many relatives who still remembered the 15- year-old boy from 1922. In 1988, Irene visited Seattle and Fernand, now called Ferdinand, welcomed her to all the Seattle family that she had never known.
The Boulanger family of Seattle (and now of many other places in the USA), will always remember Irene for her warm welcome and unlimited hospitality for our immigrant father but also for our extended family, many of whom have since visited that very special place of family and friends called Mortehan in the beautiful Ardennes forest.

Mélanie m'a informé ce vendredi du décès de sa grand-mère, qui, depuis peu, avant franchi le cap des 90 ans.

Nous tenons ici déjà, à exprimer à sa famille, nos sincères condoléances associées à une pensée pour la défunte.
