Jacques and Marlyse Larock were dear friends when I lived in Belgium in 1992. After I moved back to the United States I helped Jacques find his American family. As often occurs, we lost touch. I last corresponded with him after I heard Marlyse had passed away. He seemed so sad and lost without her. I wish Jacques and I had stayed in better touch, but Marlyse was always the better correspondent. I am hoping on returning to Belgium in February and thought I'd see if I could reconnect with Jacques again. I was brokenhearted to hear that he had passed away so relatively young, but was so gratified to know that he and Marlyse are together again. I am sad I will not see either of them again in this lifetime. They really were two of the kindest people I ever knew. My very favorite Thanksgiving ever was spent with them, and they hosted my mom and me and my cousin and me on two separate occasions. I called them my "Belgian parents." Even though it has been years since I've seen or spoken to them, I will miss both of them deeply. I'm sorry to be so very late in expressing my condolences. All my love.
